About Abyssinian Cats
Abyssinian Cat's Color
The color of the Abyssinian cat is its main advantage and a distinctive feature of the breed. Regardless of color but the texture should be smooth, tight-fitting, as if polished, shimmering in the light, creating the effect of radiance. The undercoat is practically absent, therefore, during the molting period, the owners practically do not notice the renewal of the animal's fur.
The effect of the shimmer of the coat is due to the peculiarities of color. Each hair of an Abyssinian cat's coat has dark and light color zones, in felinology this effect is called a ticked hair. The Abyssinian breed standard states the presence of at least three such zones on each hair. There is no pattern on the Abyssinian cat coat, a necklace on the neck is unacceptable, markers on the chest, legs and tail are very undesirable. Breeders strive for a more "clean" and even color tone, without the absence of stripes, even on the inside of the front and hind limbs. The cat has a cape on the upper part of the body, an important feature of which is a dark stripe from the head to the tail's tip of the color of the main color of the cat.
